 Eastern AHEC Partnering for Breastfeeding Success

Eastern AHEC is proud to support the WIC LATCH (Lactation Area Training Centers for Health) initiative, funded through a pass-through grant from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).

As the designated training leader for Region I, II, and III, Eastern AHEC delivers standardized, evidence-based breastfeeding education and clinical training to WIC peer counselors and local health department staff across 34 North Carolina counties. By hosting mandatory curriculum courses and advanced learning series—such as infant oral assessments and critical thinking workshops—we empower regional healthcare teams to provide exceptional, specialized lactation support to families in our communities.
